The Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) had announced 13th December as the last date for the written examinations to fill up the vacant 9351 posts of VAOs (Village administration Officers) and Group-4 cadre employees.
However, keeping the havoc caused by the cyclone Ockhi in the Kanyakumari district, giving consideration to the people affected in the districts, the above deadline was extended until 20th December.
The last date for paying the examination fees was yesterday (21st December). The written examination is scheduled on 11th February.
About 2083000 candidates have applied for this written examination. This includes applications from 54 transgenders.
This is the highest number of applications that have been received for Group-4 cadre written examination.
During the extended period (of deadline) alone. 250000 applications were received.
For the 9351 vacant posts, 2083000 candidates have applied. This works out to 222 applications per post.
