The Vaikunta Ekadasi festival on 29th December and Vaikunta Dwadasi festival on 30th December are scheduled in the Tirupathi temple. On this occasion, the task ok called Alwar Thirumanjanam, cleaning activities, is taken up from the morning of 26th December.
The event of ‘Alwar Thirumanjanam’ is performed 4 times in a year in the Tirupathi temple.
The occasions are – Yugadhi festival (Telugu New Year’s Day), Aani Vaara Aasthanam, the yearly Brahmotsavam Festival. And Vaikunta Ekadasi. Alwar Thirumanjanam will be taken up the previous Tuesday of the dates of the occasions as above.
Accordingly, after performing the ‘Kainkaryam’ on the deity in the Sanctum Sanctorum from 2.00 AM to 2.30 AM on 26th December, Abhishekham will be performed from 3.30 AM to 4.30 AM and Thomal Seva and Archanas are performed are performed with no devotees allowed in.
Subsequently, at 6.00 AM, the main entrance to the temple is closed. After adoring the main deity of the Lord Venkateswara with an expensive silk cloth, the officials, the staff, and the Archakas combined together take up the operation of cleaning by washing with water from the Lord’s Sanctum Sanctorum up to the main entrance. The cleaning activity is expected to be completed by 11.00 AM. After this, the temple walls, upper floors, and pillars are applied with the aromatic substance of scented perfume.
After this, the costly silk clothe adorning the main deity of Lord Venkateswara is removed and special pooja and Naivedyms are performed.
After 12.00 Noon, the main entrance is opened. The devotees waiting in the Free Darshan, Divys Darshan, and the Rs. 300 ticket exclusive entry Darshan are allowed to enter the temple.
So, from 25th December 6.00 AM to 12.oo noon for 6 hours, the events of Ashtadala Pada Padmaradhana, etc., performed on every Tuesday, will be cancelled. This information has been released by the TTD (Thirumalai Tirupathi Devasthanam Board).
