Due to the persistent snowfall in the last few days, the yield of jasmine flowers has become very low. Due to the low quantities available, the price of jasmine has sky-rocketed.

Karur district is the central market for the collection of harvested jasmine. Apart from the yield from Karur district, jasmine is brought from Dindigul and Namakkal districts also.

Due to the persistent heavy snowfall over the last few days, the quantity of jasmine yield has come down heavily. So, it is being sold at Rs. 100 per kg. As only very low quantities are available, it gets sold rather quickly. The failed monsoon season is also one of the reasons for the reduction in the yield of jasmine.

The traders informed that the yield of jasmine will pick up in 15 days.

Mullai was sold at Rs. 600 to Rs. 700 per kg. Jathipoo was sold at Rs. 600 per kg. Sampangi was sold at Rs. 120 per kg. Bangalore jasmine was auctioned at Rs. 300 per kg.
