The past five years had been a big burden for people taking the Anna Salai route for their transportation, as two third of the road connecting from Saidapet to DMS are made as One way traffic. Metro Rail construction is the sole reason for this one way traffic handling method in the Anna Salai, making it very difficult for the road side retailers losing out their customers because of the blocking of the sideways by Metro Construction Officials.
Many insiders of the State’s Traffic board inform that it will almost take another six to seven months for completely opening the two way roads in Anna Salai.
Anna Salai is considered to be the main pipe connecting almost all the small T-rods of the city, making it one of the busiest roads in the entire South India. The road side blocks and two way road blocks lead to many disruptions in regularization of the traffic, Retailers and also for people safety.
The Four Kilometers stretch of this One-way joint is known for many retailers dealing Book shops, Electric Stores, Hotels etc. Many such small scale businessmen complain about the state’s prolonged road block resulting in their vast fall down of income. People cannot identify many such retailers, as the CMRL’s barricades between these roadsides are kept for the construction of the metro lines.
Metro Stations connecting Thousand Lights, LIC and Nandanam are all in the verge of completion and to be opened for the public the next year. This can pave way for the reverting of the two way roads making the business and traffic easier for the dependents of the city.
