Scientist K. Sivan, hailing from the state of Tamil Nadu, has been appointed as the next Chairman of ISRO (Indian Space research Organisation). Mr Sivan hails from the Kanyakumari District of Tamil Nadu.
Presently, Mr Sivan is the Director of the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre.
Mr Kiran Kumar is the present Chairman of ISRO. He is due for retirement. Mr Sivan will assume charges as the next chairman of ISRO.
The central cabinet committee had approved the appointment of Sivan as the next ISRO chairman and subsequently. The central government has announced the appointment of Siva as the next ISRO chairman. Mr Sivan will hold the post of chairman for 3 years.
Sivan had completed the Aeronautical Engineering Course from the Madras Institute of Technology (MIT) the year 1980 After that, he completed the postgraduate course in Aerospace Engineering in IISc (Indian Institute of Science). After this, he completed the Ph. D. (Research) from IIT Mumbai (Indian Institute of Technology).
Sivan joined ISRO in the year 1982. His initial work was in the department of PSLV. He constructively participated and contributed to each PSLV project of ISRO.
