Managing the crowds is not an easy task. On Monday 15th January 2018 this was once again proved true at the famous Vandalur zoo in Chennai. It must be noted that many enclosures were closed on Monday as large number of people visited this zoo. The officials of this zoo sought the help of police force plus the help of other forest divisions.
As per a senior official of this zoo, huge crowd was expected only on the Kannum Pongal day which falls on Tuesday the 16th January but huge number of people came to this zoo a day before and this created issues for the officials of this zoo.
The officials also spoke about how even in the weekends not more that 1500 people visits this zoo but on Monday by around 11am this zoo saw amazing 5000 people. It is now brought out that by the end of the day there were as many as 30000 people who came to zee this popular zoo in Chennai.
It is also said that the enclosures of serpentarium, Malabar based giant squirrel house and nocturnal animal house were small and were closed to avoid any stampede. On Tuesday 16th January these three enclosures along with aquarium plus gharial enclosure would be closed.
It is important to note that as many as 100 forest division staffs plus 25 police men made their presence felt in this Vandalur zoo yesterday and helped the officials of the zoo.
One resident belonging to Tambaram Sanatorium, Hemalatha spoke about how she and her family members visited this zoo by booking the tickets online. She further spoke about how by 1pm the van service for the safari was closed.
It is worthy to note that many people also visited the famous children’s park and the officials of this park were surprised to see as many as 11500.
