It is known that gated community in this Navalur has raised voices in the past regarding the dumping of garbage near Buckingham Canal but these complaints were not given much importance by the authorities concerned. The latest news is the residents of a gated community present in this Navalur have used online change.org and launched a petition campaign.
According to this petition, many residents in this locality face huge problems because of the dumping of garbage. Not only that the petition also showcases the lack of waste disposal system that is needed.
Residents present in this Navalur spoke about how the space between the gated communities on the IT corridor and the canal has become a dump yard now because of mounds of waste dumped here regularly.
The two main issues that have come out now are the burning of the garbage plus the bad smell from the garbage during the rains. These two issues have made the lives of many residents here very tough. It is now said that the panchayat officials are not doing their work in this garbage dumping issue. Few residents spoke about how the volume of garbage being produced and dumping here has increased more than before and as a result their lives have become difficult.
Secretary of Olympia Opaline Flat Owners Association, Dr. Shakthi Subramanian shared his thoughts and said residents of this Navalur have been facing this issue for two years now. Thiruporur block office was approached by the residents and they were told about panchayat not having land for dumping the garbage.
