Tamil Nadu Agricultural University botanical garden is in the news now. It was in the year 1925 this TNAU botanical garden was established in the city of Coimbatore. It is spread over a vast area of about 25 acre is known.

It is now said that the condition of this popular botanical garden in Coimbatore is very bad. Earlier this botanical garden had many varieties of plant varieties, lawns etc and they attracted the attention of many people. Now this botanical garden has got dried landscape, broken benches plus overgrown bushes and neglected fountains and these creates soreness to the eyes for the people visiting this place.

A homemaker from Coimbatore Mrs. Radha shared her thoughts about this and said since most of those visiting here are kids the government must use this botanical garden to educate the children. She hinted that the kids must be taught about the importance of environment etc and that would be superb. It is worthy to note that people visiting this botanical garden feel happy as the garden is opened for them. So the government must take care in maintaining the garden also.

It must be noted that this botanical garden is maintained by the department of floriculture, TNAU and was opened to the people when the university was inaugurated. In the 1960s this garden developed as more new species of flora were introduced. This botanical garden was visited by huge number of people in the last decade also as it had many types of flora plus the fountain was simply superb and was maintained well. This garden is now frequented not by the kids but by couples and wedding photographers.

The students and staffs of this TNAU play major roles in maintaining this botanical garden these days as there is lack of support as well as money from the tourism department.
