Conversion of water bodies to deep water storage structures planned by TN government

According to Dr. Sathyagopal, commissioner of revenue administration, the government of Tamil Nadu is planning to convert water bodies in the urban places like Chennai into deep water storage structures. The reason for this is to increase the efficiency.

Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry in association with the Art of Living has organized a conference titled ‘Towards Self-Sufficiency of Water in Tamil Nadu- Reviving and Rejuvenating Water Bodies and in this conference Mr Sathyagopal made his presence felt. The purpose of this conference was to provide solution to the state of Tamil Nadu’s long lasting water problem.

It is now expected that government of TN would come out soon with the policy of converting the water bodies to deep water storage systems. Mr Sathyagopal further said that the proposal was still in the discussion stage only.

During this conference there were also few important personalities who shared their thoughts. It must be noted that Dr. Lingaraju Yale who is a geo-hydrologist, Dr. Subramanian professor in remote sensing, geomorphology shared few things. The conference also saw the presence of Vellore district collector Mr Raman sharing his opinion.

General committee member of MCCI, Mr. N K. Ranganath was also present during this conference and he mediated the talks.
