The distribution of plastic Aadhar cards through the E-service centres at Rs. 30 has been stopped since the last 3 weeks. So, even if the people get their Aadhar card number, they are not able to get the plastic Aadhar card.
As the plastic cards are not available in the E-service centre, the people need to go the browsing centres, take the colour printout of the Aadhar card and then laminate it and use. A charge of Rs. 50 is collected for this service. Some places charge even more.
An official from the Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation Ltd. Explained that until now, Aadhar plastic cards were issued from the E-service centres through the Central Government Portal – ‘Apna CSC’. As this portal is now under the safety scrutiny, the distribution of Aadhar plastic cards has been stopped throughout the country. So, the facility is stopped in Tamil Nadu as well.
The Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation Ltd has written to the central government that the common public has been put to great hardship because of the stoppage of the issue of Aadhar plastic cards requesting that the portal (Apna CSC) should be restored immediately.
However, even though Aadhar cards are not distributed, Aadhar card registration is being continued. For those whose Aadhar card number is received, a printout of A4 size is given in place of the Aadhar plastic card. This can be used as Aadhar reference wherever required.
