As extra quantities of vegetables have started arriving in more trucks from different places to the Koyambedu wholesale vegetable market in Chennai, the prices of vegetables have gone on a downtrend continuously.
Tomato which was earlier sold at Rs. 9 per kg, had come down to Rs. 6 per kg. The price of cabbage had come down to Rs. 4 per kg, brinjal and radish at Rs. 5 per kg. The price of beetroot has come down to Rs. 7 per kg.
Other vegetables like potato are sold at 14 per kg, beans at Rs. 15 per kg, broad beans at Rs. 12 per kg, okra (lady’s finger), bitter gourd, snake gourd, carrot, and green chillies are sold at Rs. 10 per kg.
Onion is sold at Rs. 25 per kg. Small or sambar onion is sold at Rs. 26 per kg. The drumstick is sold at Rs. 35 per kg.
Apart from the above vegetables, the prices of the other vegetable are at less than Rs. 15 per kg.
