Sales of passenger vehicles up by 7%

The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) has informed that the domestic sales of the passenger vehicles increased by 7.77% in the last February.

275329 passenger vehicles were sold during February. As compared to the corresponding figure of the previous year which was 255470, there is an increase of 7.77%.

The sales of all passenger vehicles including car, bike, and truck increased from the previous year’s figure of 1719906 by 22.77% to 2111388.

Highlights
  • The sales of cars registered an increase of 3.7% from 172737 to 179122.
  • Consumer vehicles rose by 21.82% for sales of 80254.
  • The sales of commercial vehicles rose by 31.13% to 87777.
  • Sales of 2-wheelers were up by 23.77% to 1685814 and the sales of motorcycles were up by 26/48% to 1058230.
Excluding the heavy-duty vehicles, as there was increased demand for 2-wheelers and passenger vehicles in bother urban and rural areas, the sales of all motor vehicles were exceptionally good in February.

However, the export business of several motor manufacturing companies suffered due to the problems encountered regarding GST refunds.

The Director-General of SIAM, Vinod Mathur, informed on Monday (12th March) that for the 1st time ever, the manufacturing figures for motorcycles crossed Rs.2.3 Crores and the sales also will cross Rs. 2 Crores.
