Chennai Corporation Headquarters Ripon Building glows in the green colour

As a part of the observation of the World Glaucoma Awareness Day, the Ripon Building in Chennai, the headquarters of the Chennai Metro City Corporation, was decorated to glow in green colour.

When the pressure of the liquid generated on the front part of the eye increases, the optical nerves get affected. This condition is known as Glaucoma.

As per the statistics given by WHO (World Health Organisation), India is in the 2nd place in the list of the cases which lose eyesight caused by Glaucoma.

About 1.2 Crore individuals in India are affected with Glaucoma. The report indicates that out of this 1.2 Crores. 12 lakhs individuals have lost their eyesight.

In recent times, there has been an increasing trend in glaucoma affected cases.

In order to create awareness among the public on this issue,

The world Glaucoma Day’ is observed every year on 12th March. It has been decided that this entire week will be observed as World Glaucoma Day.

As a part of creating public awareness, as arranged and organized by the Agarwal Eye Hospital, one of the popular landmarks of the Chennai Metro City, The Ripon Building (the official headquarters of the Chennai Metro Corporation), was decorated and made to glow in green colour. This special arrangement was enjoyed and appreciated by the public.
