The sales of the 5 kg LPG cooking Gas Cylinder has been reintroduced in the 20 petrol bunks of the Indian Oil Corporation in Chennai Metro City.
The Public Sector Undertakings of Indian Oil, Bharath, and Hindusthan Petroleum sell 2 types of LPG cooking gas cylinders of 14,2 kg (domestic purpose) and 19 kg (for commercial purposes).
However, certain documents are mandatory to procure these 2 types of cylinders. So, some section of the population like youth staying in hostels, or workers shifting their jobs, etc., face hardship in procuring these cylinders.
Subsequently, the central government introduced the scheme of offering 5 kg LPG cooking gas cylinders after presenting any one of the ID cards during October 2013.
These were sold in the gas agencies located near the petrol bunks. However, as the sales were not much popular, the offer of sales of 50 kg LPG cooking gas cylinders was withdrawn.
In this situation, Indian Oil has started sales of the 5 kg LPG cooking gas cylinder in 20 bunks in Chennai Metro City.
The inaugural function of the resumption of the sales of 5 kg cylinder was organized at the Chennai Anna Nagar Petrol Bunk. The Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Indian Oil Corporation, Sidharthan, inaugurate yesterday (Thursday, 15th March).
