This sensational Adam fountain belonging to Ooty is facing crisis now

Public display fountain has been making its presence felt in Ooty ever since it was constructed in the year 1886. This Adam Fountain was built as a memorial to a Governor of Ooty is well known fact. Adam fountain has been attracting the attention of many visitors here by its amazing beauty and is now making hot news.
It must be noted that initially this Adam fountain was suppose to be present near the Ooty market but was later constructed in front of district collector office. Lack of water was the reason behind shifting of this fountain from district collector’s office to another place.
Presently this fountain is making many heads turn in Charring Cross in Ooty. It is now revealed that to provide more space for the vehicular traffic on the busy Commercial Road- Charring Cross junction, the department of police wants to chop the triangular garden that has this Adam fountain. This has made the public upset and angry now.
To conserve this amazing heritage monument of Ooty, voices have grown stronger now with local MLA also involving himself in this. According to the heritage lovers, the plan to modify the space around this Adam fountain for the sake of traffic is against the Antiquities and Art Treasure Act.
On Monday 26th March the Nilgris district collector grabbed many eyeballs when he held a public hearing on this issue.
It is now brought out that the SP belonging to Nilgris district Mr. Murali Rambha appears to be heading for a showdown with the conservationists plus historians regarding this issue.
Sentiments of the residents belonging to Ooty hills and heritage culture of the hills must be given importance and acting against these must be avoided. This was confirmed by the Ooty MLA Mr. Ganesh belonging to Congress party.
He also spoke about his willingness to fight along with other people for the sake of conserving this Adam fountain.
