Rs.453 crores Allotted for 3 Drinking Water Projects

Based on Tamilnadu’s Welfare schemes Chief Minister J.Jayalalitha allotted Rs.453 for Drinking water projects which are to be constructed at Tuticorin, Pudukottai, Sivaganga and Tirupur districts where the rural habitas is  2,297.one of the project s coming near Seevalaperi near Thamirabarani river which’s costrs is estimated upto Rs.94.04 crores.which will benefits people living in 248 rural habitations in Kovilpatti, Kayathar, Ottapidaram, Vilathikulam and Pudur panchayats.

And moreover the maintenance cost is separately allotted for the project as upto Rs.1.62 crore.as per the directions from CM that a similar project should be implemented at a cost of Rs 301.50 crore near Tirupparaithurai with Cauvery river as the source. The project will provide drinking water to the people living in 1,766 rural habitations in the panchayat unions of Viralimalai, Annavasal, Ponnamaravathi, Tirumayam, Arimalam, Kunnandarkoil and Pudukottai in Pudukottai district and 125 rural habitations in S Pudur and Sakkottai panchayat unions in Sivaganga district.

And Rs. 10.86 crore towards its maintenance cost. Meanwhile another dam project is also signed based on Tirumurthi dam as the source at a cost of Rs 54.14 crore. This project will provide drinking water to the people living in 158 rural habitations in Kudimanagalam and Udumalaipettai panchayat unions in Tirupur district with Annual maintenance cost upto Rs. 1.20 crore
