The services offered by the government-controlled E-service Centres can henceforth be availed in the private internet centres as well.
Presently, the government E-service centres are operating under the Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable Corporation.
61 Important public services including the issues of birth certificate, income certificate, Aadhar card registration, payment of electricity bills, addition/removal of names in the smart ration cards, issue of coloured Voter IDs, etc., are done at the government e-service centres.
Henceforth, this facility can be availed at the private service centres as well. The Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable Corporation has already started working on this.
An official explained that presently, the government e-service centres are giving various services including the issue of a variety of certificate to the public. So far, around 1.5 Crores certificates have been issued by these e-service centres.
Apart from the existing services, plans are afoot to include an additional 20 services including the issue of licences to operate medical shops, etc.
The private service centres charge extra for services such as addition/deletion of names in the ration cards, carrying out corrections in Aadhar cards, etc. Due to this, an initiative has been taken to bring the private centres under the control of the government e-service.
So far, 3000 internet service centres have applied for this. Henceforth, all the services offered by the government e-service centres can also be availed in these private service centres. This facility is expected to start in 2 months.
