With the intensity of summer nearing its peak and the quantity of vegetables arriving having considerably reduced, the prices of the vegetables and the fruits have gone up.
The arrival of vegetables from other states/districts has come down in the Koyambedu wholesale vegetable market. The trader explained that the price rise is because of this.

With the intensity of the summer heat shooting up, the quantity of vegetables arriving at the Koyambedu wholesale vegetable market has come down.
The beans, which were being sold at Rs. 25 per kg, is now being sold at Rs. 30 Rs. 40 per kg. The prices of the ladys finger (okra), bitter gourd, potato, cauliflower, small (sambar) onion, and beetroot have gone up to Rs. 20 Rs. 25 per kg.
Ginger is being sold at Rs. 45 Rs. 50 per kg. The price of green chilli has gone up to Rs. 50 per kg. Drumstick is sold at Rs. 25 per kg.
The price of grapes has shot up to Rs. 600 Rs. 700 for 10 kg. Last week, 10 kg of grapes was sold at Rs. 550 Rs. 600.
The price of sweet lime per kg, as compared to the last week has gone up by Re. 1 and is sold at Rs. 48.
The price of santra or kamala fruit is up by Rs. 3 and is sold at Rs. 75 per kg.
