The president of India, Ramnath Kovind, is visiting Tamil Nadu today (Friday, 4th May) to participate in several functions/programmes organized in Chennai & Vellore.
He arrives by a special flight to land in Chennai at 10.45 AM. The governor Panwarilal Purohit, the Chief Minister E. Palanisamy, and the Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam and the heads of the 3 defense forces will receive the president.
From Chennai, the president will proceed to Vellore by an army helicopter. He will participate in the Centenary (100th year) Anniversary of the Vellore CMC Medical College at 12.00 Noon.
After this, he will participate in the inaugural function of the commencement of the kidney/heart transplantation surgery department in the Sripuram Sri Narayani Hospital and Research Centre.
The president will then visit the Sri Lakshmi Narayani Golden temple and offer prayers and have Darshan. The governor, Banwarilal Purohit will also join the president to participate in these events.
After participating in the above Vellore events, the president will return by an army helicopter to Chennai. He will stay for the night at the Guindy Governor Raj Bhavan, It is gathered that he is scheduled to meet some of the prominent leaders during this period.
The president is scheduled to participate in the Chennai University’s 160th Anniversary (Diamond Jubilee after a centenary), celebrations and the convocation. The governor Banwarilal Purohit, the Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam, and the Minister K. P. Anbazhagan will also participate in this function.
Later, the president will participate in the Convocation ceremony of the Velachery Guru Nanak College. After participating in all the above events, the president is scheduled to return to Delhi in a special flight at 1.15 PM.
