There have been additional truckloads of sweet lime fruit arriving at the Koyambedu wholesale market.
With the intensity of scorching summer peak, the demand for fruits has increased by a large way. Out of this, as additional truckloads of sweet lime and mango have arrived at the Koyambedu wholesale vegetable/fruit/flower market, the prices of these 2 fruits have started coming down.
Additional truckloads of sweet lime have arrived from Hyderabad, Andhra. Yesterday (Wednesday, 23rd March), 15 truckloads of sweet lime arrived.
In this regard, the fruit commission union president Srinivasan explained that the procurement price of the sweet lime has doubled as compared to the last year. Additional truckloads of 1st quality sweet lime from Anantapur have arrived. Sweet lime is sold at Rs. 60 to Rs. 85 per kg in the wholesale market and at Rs. 100 to Rs.110 per kg in the retail market. 2nd-grade quality sweet lime is sold at 70 to Rs. 85 per kg and the 3rd-grade quality is sold at Rs. 50 to Rs. 65 per kg.
In a similar trend, additional truckloads of Banganapalli and Imam Pasand mangoes have arrived from Andhra. In the wholesale market, Banganapalli mango is sold at Rs. 25 to Rs. 50 per kg. The truckloads of rumani mangoes will start arriving from the last week of June or the 1st week of July.
The fruit of the season, jackfruit is sold at Rs, 300 to Rs. 1000 per piece depending on the size of the fruit.
