Low-pressure zones formed over the Bay of Bengal & Arabian Sea

As low-pressure zones have developed over the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal, the fishermen have been strictly warned not to venture into the sea till 31st May.

With the summer season set to conclude, the southwest monsoon rainy season has set in a week earlier on 25th May in the Andaman region.

As informed by the Chennai Meteorological Centre, the southwest monsoon rainy season will spread from Andaman to the coastal areas of Kerala and Karnataka,

The director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre, S. Balachandran, explained in this regard:

As a low-pressure zone has formed over the Arabian Sea covering the coastal areas of Kerala and Karnataka are prevailing, strong winds will blow at 60 kmph. So, the fishermen must not venture into the sea till 31st May. In a similar trend, another low-pressure zone has formed over the central east part of the Bay of Bengal. As this depression is likely to intensify, the fishermen must not venture into the sea till 31st May.

As for the weather today, there are prospects of rain with thunder in the northern and southern districts in the coastal areas. There are prospects of heavy rain in the districts of Nilgiri, Coimbatore, Theni, and Dindigul.
