A government order has been issued that henceforth 2 separate examinations will not be conducted for the language papers for the 11th and 12th examinations.

Tamil Nadu state government school education minister K. A. Sengottaiyan had earlier announced that the state education system would be thoroughly revised following the introduction of NEET and there would be a great improvement in the school education system.

Accordingly, he ordered that ranking systems of 1st, 2nd, etc., should not be made when announcing the results of the public examination. Further, various measures are being taken to improves the standards of the syllabus.

In this scenario, the state education department decided that the system of conducting 2 separate examinations individualy for the 11th and 12th Standards for the language papers should be abolished and only a single examination will be conducted for each language paper for both 11th and 12th Standards and commenced the required activities for this. The information was conveyed that this decision has been taken mainly in order to reduce the burden and the mental stress of the students.

Accordingly, a government order has been issued today (Monday, 11th June). The order clarifies that henceforth only a single examination will be conducted for the language papers for both 11th and 12th standards students. This system will be followed right from the current academic year. Until now, 4 separate examinations were being conducted for language papers (Tamil – 2 papers and English – 2 papers). Henceforth, only 2 examinations will be conducted.

Educationists have welcomed this latest government decision. However, some of them have observed that there are prospects of the students losing their interest and enthusiasm in the language lessons and related grammar.
