The state government of Tamil Nadu has created a new company called Tamil Nadu Fibrenet Corporation and registered the same for implementing the government-related internet services in the rural/village areas.
The central government had earlier announced a plan called ‘Bharat Net’, to link all the village local administrations (Grama Panchayats) through the internet and provide all government-related services.
In this plan, 12524 village panchayats (village local administrations) are being linked through fibre optics. With this, the residents in these rural areas can easily access and avail the government-related services.
The central government has allotted funds of Rs. 1239 Crores to implement this plan in the state of Tamil Nadu. A separate company, Tamil Nadu Fibrenet Corporation, has been created for this.
Te officials of the Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation explained in this regard that the state government of Tamil Nadu has initiated various measures to implement the Bharat Net plan. As a part of this, a separate company, ‘Tamil Nadu Fibrenet Corporation’, a new company, has been created and has been registered as per the Company Act. The infrastructure required will be set up shortly and the implementation activities are set to start soon.
