Following the introduction of Voters Verifiable Paper Audit Trial or VVPAT, there is substantial dip in total count of polling booths in Chennai.

Back during 2016 assembly polls, in the 16 constituencies, the Greater Chennai Corporation reports say there were 3,768 polling booths. Now, in 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the count has reduced to 3,748.

Mageswari Ravi Kumar, the Deputy Commissioner of Education said that the corporation is instructed to rejig all polling booths to affirm that there are 1400 voters. Hence, polling booths are merged and hence in a few areas, the total count has got reduced. The voters count is ensured to be 1400.

This is merely a draft and all the politicians and residents can cross check the data and send across if there is any objection until 9th July. Upon this, the finalizing will be done, she added.

The list of constituencies that have seen dip in number of booths is Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar, Thiru Vi Ka Nagar, Villivakkam, Virugambakkam and T Nagar.
