T. Nagar is highly congested place in Chennai and the people find it very difficult to park their vehicles in the T. Nagar is well known. The news is to make way for the multi-level parking building in T. Nagar, the bus terminal and depot would be phased out. It is now said that all the 73 buses from the T. Nagar bus depot would be shifted to places like Adyar, Anna Nagar, Adambakkam, Perumbakkam, Saidapet etc before deepavali this year. The superb piece of information is the commuters would not lose any bus services.
According to MTC sources it is now revealed that DPR on the construction of three- storeyed structure comprising 2 bus parking lots and shopping malls is getting finalised. Until Saturday, 14th of July 2018, 19B bus services were operated between T. Nagar and Siruseri/Kelambakkam is known. Now MTC has shifted all 19B bus services to Saidapet. A resident of CIT Nagar, T .Nagar expressed her thoughts and spoke about how from Saturday onwards all the 19B bus services are getting terminated at Saidapet itself and how she had to spend extra money to reach her residence in T. Nagar. She also hinted that this might be a new method to increase the ticket fare.
Many frequent travellers complained that they had lost direct connectivity to T. Nagar from Taramani, Sholinganallur, Thuraipakkam, Karapakkam and Siruseri. They also spoke about how the bus number 519 that operated between T. Nagar/Saidapet to Thiruporur followed the same route of 19B. The deluxe buses present were of no use for these frequent commuters.
A resident of Thuraipakkam expressed his opinion and spoke about how more than 40 percent of 19B services were operated as white board and express services where as bus number 519 had only deluxe buses. As a result either two buses were used by the commuters to reach T. Nagar or a single deluxe bus of number 519 was used by the commuters to reach T. Nagar. As per MTC officials it is clear that route 519 has been shifted to T. Nagar from Saidapet and 19B has been sent to Saidapet from T. Nagar due to the issues in the timings. The MTC officials later spoke about how the passengers along the Rajiv Gandhi Salai would be served through 519 bus services. White board bus services are also available and this was also confirmed by the officials.
It is important to mention that T. Nagar bus terminus handles as many as 456 buses in a day. This included 73 buses of its own. Every day as many as 55000 passengers use this T. Nagar bus depot. Sixty to sixty five buses could be parked in the bus depot and terminus complexes.
