The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that there are prospects of light rain today (Monday, 6th August) due to the phenomenon of thermal convection.
The southwest monsoon rainy season is intensively active in the northeastern states of India. In this situation, a low-pressure zone has formed over the northwest area above the Bay of Bengal. In case this low-pressure zone drifts towards the northwest, it is estimated that there will be more intensive rains in the northeast states.
Meanwhile, cloud gatherings formed over the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal are moving towards the north via the areas of Tamil Nadu.
The Chennai Meteorological Centre informed that because of the above development, there are prospects of sudden rain with lightning and thunder and also, it may rain in a few places due to the phenomenon of thermal convection.
