Independence Celebration leads to traffic diversions in Chennai

Chennai city Police department announced the traffic diversions ahead of Independence Day celebrations on Wednesday. The security arrangements throughout the city and at Fort St. George are on a full swing as per the report of Police Commissioner A.K.Viswanathan. He also informed about the deployment of 10,000 police personnel at the fort where Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami will unfurl the national flag.

The sources revealed five-tier security arrangements at the Fort and seven-tier security arrangements at Airport with personnel derived from city police, Tamil Nadu special police, Swift Action group and Central Industrial security force. Police department has announced the traffic movement modifications around the locality of Fort effective from 6 A.M up to the end of the hoisting function.

The stretch between Kamarajar Salai from Labor statue till RBI subway north on Rajaji Salai and Flag staff road will be closed for all traffic movement except cars with security passes. The blocked route can be diverted via Swami Sivananda Salai, Anna Salai, Muthusamy Bridge, Muthusamy road, R.A. Mandram and NFS road to reach Paris.

The stretch of Kamarajar Salai from Labor Statue up to RBI Subway North on Rajaji Salai and Flag Staff Road will be closed for all traffic other than vehicles with car passes. Vehicles coming on Kamarajar Salai and proceeding towards Parry’s Corner via Rajaji Salai may take the route via Swami Sivananda Salai, Anna Salai, Muthusamy Bridge, Muthusamy Road, R.A. Mandram and NFS Road to reach Parrys.

Vehicles with purple passes can take Rajaji Salai before 8.45 A.M and parked inside the Secretariat. After 8.45 A.M the vehicles with red and purple passes will take the route via Flag staff road to enter Fort St. George through Wallajah gate.

Vehicles having the blue and pink passed will take Flag staff road and Wallajah gate through Muthusamy Bridge, Muthusamy Road, NFS Road, Parry’s Corner and RBI subway to reach the out gate of Secretariat.
