The meteorological department informed that the next 2 days, the coastal regions of TN plus Chennai city would receive moderate to heavy rains. There would also be few thunderstorms also in these places.
The upper air cyclonic circulation is concentrated over the interiors of TN and its surrounding areas and this would be responsible for the rains and thunderstorms. This was confirmed by Mr. S. Balachandran who is deputy director general of meteorology at the Regional Meteorological Centre or RMC. Mr. Balachandran later spoke about how there would one or two spells of heavy rains in some places but mostly the rainfall would be scattered. Late evening or early morning would be the time when rains would be making their presence felt. He added that the temperatures of the day time would be normal. Mr. Pradeep John is a weather blogger and he expressed his views. According to him the rains would continue and become more till the first week in the month of September.
It is worthy to mention that in the last 24 hours till 8:30 am on Tuesday, the Sathyabhama University ARG had received 8 cm of rainfall and that was the highest.
