Working on its commitment to make safe riding an everyday habit for road users, especially two-wheeler riders, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) in collaboration with Tiruchirappalli City Municipal Corporation and City Police today laid the foundation stone of its 14th adopted traffic park in India, its second in the state of Tamil Nadu in Tiruchirappalli.
On this occasion, a unique two-wheeler awareness rally was also flagged off from the new traffic park to spread awareness on importance of helmet usage by both riders and pillions in the city.
Present at the foundation stone laying ceremony of Children’s Traffic Park at old Collectorate Road were the Chief Guests Tr. Vellamandi N. Natarajan, Avl.(Honorable Tourism Minister),Tmt. S. Valarmathi, Avl.(Honorable Minister for Backward classes),the Guests of Honour - Mr.K. Rajamani (IAS, Collector, Tiruchirappalli District)and Dr. A. Amalraj(IPS, Commissioner, Tiruchirappalli City Police), Mr. Prabhu Nagaraj (Vice President, Brand & Communication, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd), senior dignitaries from the government and Honda 2Wheelers India officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Prabhu Nagaraj, Vice President, Brand & Communication, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “Tamil Nadu is among the top 3 states in terms of two-wheelers on road. This is why Honda is stepping up its road safety commitment in the state. After successfully educating over 1 lac people in our Coimbatore traffic park, Honda is now adopting the new Children’s traffic park in Trichy. We thank the Tiruchirappalli Municipal Corporation and City Police for trusting in Honda and giving us an opportunity to now spread safety awareness in Trichy as well. Honda’s specialized safety instructors will educate all age groups starting as young as 5 year olds with a vision to make riders and roads of Trichy safer.”
Honda’s support in new initiatives at the new Children Traffic Park, Tiruchirappalli:
For those applying for learning license, Honda will conduct both theoretical knowledge (correct riding posture, traffic signs and road rules knowledge etc) and practical training (riding experience of two-wheelers) with the support of Tiruchirappalli City Police. Permanent licence holders too can avail this facility.
The new Children Traffic Park will be designed as a secure environment with features like blind spot. Once completely transformed, the traffic park will have two dedicated areas for training Children & Adults.
Customized road safety activities for children – Honda will spread healthy road safety habits among children with fun learning approach. For 4 to 5 year olds, there will be new road safety games with role play. 6 to 8 year olds will understand importance of road signs, practical cycling zone to understand how to use roads safely safety in school bus etc. Honda will make the 9-12 year old kids the safety brand ambassadors of their family through CRF 50 motorcycle. For young teens, there is the theory session on safety riding.
Learning becomes fun with Honda’s Proprietary riding trainer – A virtual riding simulator will help people above 16 years of age to experience over 100 possible dangers on road before actual riding on road. The biggest advantatage for new riders is that virtual experience will significantly increase their ability to predict & react to traffic hazards.
For existing riders over 18 years of age, there is the gymkhana and narrow plank through which riders can test their skill through a fun approach.
Exclusively for females, Honda will bring its Dream Riding Initiative. Expert Honda Safety instructors (both female & male) will educate riders on the correct riding techniques with comfort and confidence.
Say No to Drunken Driving: Honda will spread awareness on how driving under influence of alcohol can increase your risk of accident with the special drunken driving googles.
There is much more at Children Training Park. Spreading road safety awareness through engagement, Honda will support with the engineering of amphitheatre with LED for road safety education, watch tower, rope-way, Kids Play Zone and the exclusive Jungle Park zone.
