All govt employees must wear Identity card - TN Govt order

The state government of Tamil Nadu has issued an order that all its employees in all departments must wear/display their identity cards/badges.

The Secretary of the Employees and Reforms Department S. Swarna has sent a letter to all the secretaries of the state government departments and the district collectors. It is mentioned that each departmental head must watch and ensure that all the government employees wear their proper Identity Card/badge with the photo while on duty.

In this situation, the Chennai High Court has released an order regarding the Identity Card. The order detailed that all the officials and workers in the state government departments, especially those who are interacting with the public, must be given an identity card with a photo within the next 60 days. In case there is an existent rule regarding wearing identity card while on duty, it must be strictly followed. Action must be taken on those who fail to follow this.

So, the latest State Government Order released insists that it is mandatory for all state government officials and employees to wear the Identity Card and they should be suitably informed/advised by the respective department heads or the district collectors.
