Online registration for NET commences

National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted for the selection for the research scholarship and for the posts of college lecturer/assistant professor and research student. The online registration process for NET commences today (Saturday, 1st September).

It is mandatory for the postgraduates to write and pass NET or the state government-conducted SET, both of which are approved by UGC (University Grants Commission) in order to be appointed as Assistant Professors.

If the candidate passed in the central government-conducted NET, he.she will be qualified to work in any state (colleges and universities) throughout the country. However, if a candidate writes and passes the state government-conducted SET, he/she will be eligible to serve only in the colleges/universities in that particular state.

The dates for the current year NET was announced yesterday (Friday, 31st August). NET is scheduled to be conducted from 9th December to 23rd December.

To participate in this NET, the interested candidate can register online from today (Saturday, 1st September) to 30th September.

The results of the NET will be released on 10th January. Even the candidates who are in the category of Junior level research students can write and pass NET to get the educational financial assistance or scholarship.

NET is conducted through computers in 2 question papers. The 1st question paper will have 50 questions carrying 100 marks. The duration is 1 hour.

The 2nd question paper will have 100 questions carrying 200 marks. The duration will be 2 hours.
