The passengers who book train tickets on the digital payment mode using credit/debit cards or mobile wallet, etc., in the train ticket counter are offered a 5% concession on the train fare. The period for this 5% concession has now been extended.

The Indian Railway administration has taken several initiatives to attract more passengers as well as encourage cashless transactions. As a part of this, the passengers who book train tickets on the digital payment mode using credit/debit cards or mobile wallet, etc., in the train ticket counter are offered a 5% concession on the train fare. This was introduced on 20th April.

While introducing this scheme, the Indian Railways had announced that this measure has been taken on an experimental basis. Only those passengers making the train ticket booking on a digital mode using UPI can avail this concession. Moreover, the ticket fare must be higher than Rs. 100. A maximum concession of up to Rs, 50 can be availed.

In this situation, the Railways administration has now announced that this concession is extended until 13th June 2019.
