Today (15th October, Monday) is the birthday of India’s former president, Abdul Kalam, who sowed the dreams of positive ambitions and goals for a better future among the youth.
With his multiple positive views and expertise on subjects, he earned the sobriquets of ‘Rocket Expert’, ‘The Light House of India’, The heroic symbol of self-confidence, and various other honours.
Abdul Kalam was born in a poor family belonging to a village in the district of Ramanathapuram – he grew up to become the President of India, the supreme position in the country!. With his various interests, especially the youngsters and the down-trodden people, he became hugely popular to be called as people’s President!
He was a prolific author as well as a deep thinker and meanwhile excelled in his role as a space scientist/technologist. Though he attained dizzy glorious heights in his life through his achievements and excellence, Abdul Kalam remained always accessible to anyone and everyone – he was especially fond of children. He had a regular routine of meeting children and conversing with them. Children adored him as well! His every utterance on life serves as a beacon and a confidence-booster among the youth today.
His most favourite mottos – ‘Efforts may fail – but, never fail to make effort!’. ‘If it comes one time, it is a derma, if it comes 2 times, it is a dear wish! If it comes several times, it becomes an ambition!’ - inspired great confidence among the youth.
Abdul Kalam passé away during the year 2015 at the age of 83. Though he has physically departed, his reputation will live forever.
With the birthday of Abdul Kalam being celebrated today, special arrangements have been made to pay tribute in his honour at The Abdul Kalam memorial in Rameswaram.
