The news is northeast monsoon has been setting in slowly in the coastal areas of Tamil Nadu plus in the Chennai city and Chennai rains have made a comeback now. According to Dr. S. Balachandran, director of Area Cyclone Warning Centre, coastal areas would first experience northeast monsoons in the next 24 hours starting from 1pm on 31st of October 2018. This northeast monsoon would extend slowly to other parts of Tamil Nadu and adjoining parts of south Karnataka and Kerala in the subsequent days.

In the last 24 hours that ended on 8:30 am on 31st October, Chennai and other adjoining places such as Kelambakkam, Ennore, Mahabalipuram etc received 5 cm of rainfall. As per the meteorological website it is clear that Nungambakkam recorded 11 mm of rains and Meenambakkam recorded 5 mm of rains in the last 24 hours. The director later spoke about how the delay of northeast monsoon was because of cyclone Titli and Luban that formed over Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea respectively. He added that the coming next 2 months would be crucial. Finally Dr. Balachandran threw light on how there would be rains for another 3 to 4 days in TN, Chennai would have light showers to moderate rains and how the skies would remain cloudy.
