Myanmar is the only ASEAN country adjoining India, making it India’s gateway to South East Asia. The geo-strategic land and maritime border sharing by both the countries, encompass the broader interests of India and Myanmar in the Indian Ocean region. India is expanding its relationship with Myanmar in multifaceted directions, seeking greater economic integration through India`s `Look East` and now `Act East` Policy. Business opportunities that emerge from a surging economy in Myanmar also provide new vistas for engagement.
Myanmar government’s economic policy promotes export-led growth, private sector development, employment creation and poverty reduction. The country is in transition, giving opportunity for private sector to explore the partnerships with the local businesses, benefit to Investors from incentives and tax holidays, SEZ facilities and LDC benefits for exports, etc. Apart from these, India and Myanmar share a heritage of religious, linguistic and ethnic ties, resulting in India is expanding its relationship with Myanmar in multifaceted directions.
Against this backdrop, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is mounting an SME Delegation to Myanmar for the 5th edition of the ‘Enterprise India’ Show from 13-15 December 2018 at Hotel Lotte, Yangon. The Show would consist focused discussion sessions on Trade, Sectors, B2B meetings, Exhibitions, official meetings with government and industry counterparts, etc. Coinciding with the Enterprise India Show, CII will also be organising a daylong Conference on India - Myanmar SME Partnerships on 13 December 2018.
The conference is to promote “Brand India” and Indian Industry overseas, showcasing the best of India’s manufactured products, equipment, services and technology to relevant stakeholders and is aimed to build industrial and trade partnerships, opening new export / import markets for entrepreneurs.
The Enterprise India, Myanmar will be inaugurated and hosted by eminent dignitaries and VVIP from the Government of India and Government of Myanmar.
Objective of the CII SME Delegation: To identify business partners, collaborations, and alliances between the industries’ counterparts. boost trade between Myanmar and India in the backdrop of the strong bilateral relationship between the two countries and create a conducive business atmosphere amongst the SME Sector in India and Myanmar.
Focus Sectors: Automobiles, Auto Components and Transportation; HVAC/Construction Equipment, Machinery and Building materials; Agriculture and Farm equipment, Skill Development; Medical, medical equipment and pharmaceuticals, Oil and Gas; Education; Power, Electricity & Water; ICT, Telecom, Financial Services, Tourism, IT & ITES.
Participation: The delegation is expected to be joined by 40+ CII SME Members led by Mr Shreekant Somany, Chairman, CII National MSME Council and senior government officials from Ministry of MSME and Ministry of Commerce & Industry, along with the participation of 100+ Indian exhibitors & partners at the Enterprise India Show cum conference (enclosed e-flyer).
