  • Currently Cyclone Gaja centre over Dindigul district. Expected to continue to move along in a roughly West path over the Interior districts of TamilNadu.  Next few hours all along the path heavy winds accompanies by Rains will continue.

  • Sea conditions will remain rough to very rough over Southwest Bay of Bengal and along and off the TamilNadu coast during the next few hours.

  • According to Tamil Nadu State Disaster Management Authority, as many as 81,948 people were evacuated from low lying areas and sheltered in 471 relief centres in six districts Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Pudukottai, Thanjavur, Ramanathapuram and Tiruvarur

  • Tamil Nadu: Trees uprooted damaged in Nagapattinam in the overnight rainfall and strong winds which hit the town. NDRF team carrying out clearance work in the area.

  • Cyclonic storm Gaja is very likely to move nearly westwards and weaken into a deep depression during the next six hours, the latest bulletin issued by IMD stated.

  • Cyclone Gaja, after ripping thru Nagapattinam district in Tamilnadu, Now over Pudukkottai zone and marching into Madurai, Dindigul, Palani zones. Its has weakened but still packed with high winds and heavy rain

  • Cyclone Gaja even after crossing the land is still a severe Cyclone and is now right over Pudukottai a rare event indeed. Enitre town is getting cyclonic winds gusting to 100 km/hr. Nagai, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur and Karaikkal all have witnessed Cyclonic winds. - TN Weatherman

  • Schools in Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Ramanathapuram, Sivagangai, Theni, Madurai, Trichy, Ariyalur, Tirupur, Dindigul, Villupuram, Karur, Virudhunagar, Thuthukudi, Salem, Coimbatore, Erode and Pudukottai districts will remain closed on Friday (16th November) due to cyclone Gaja.
