The Cyclonic Storm Gaja wreaked havoc among southern pockets of Tamil Nadu in the past week. As far as the capital of the state is concerned, the intensity of showers remained swaying between light to moderate over Chennai and so we could say that the best of rains remained away.
While the southern districts of Tamil Nadu witnessed the most wallop of the storm, the northern parts inclusive of Chennai saw the minimum brunt.
Presently, the maximum as well as minimum temperatures in the state capital, have been settling above the normal levels, regardless of the persistent scattered showers over the city in the past few days.
According to the weatherman at Skymet Weather, the low-pressure area positioned over South Central Bay of Bengal is expected to shift gradually westwards. Not only this, it would soon attain the strength of a well-marked low by today evening. As a result, we may expect the intensity of showers to pick up pace over Chennai.
There is a strong anticipation of moderate showers with isolated heavy spells over the city during the next two to three days. Therefore, we could say that this would be the episode of good showers for Chennai. With the rains, the mercury levels are likely to drop by two to three degrees over the region.
With the good news accompanies the bad scoop, the approaching rainy spell would not be a prolonged one as the weather system will fade away after November 22, paving way for dry weather conditions again.
