Government extends the deadline for filing TDS returns

The recent update from the central government informed about the extension of deadline for filing Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) returns. This time extension was ordered under GST laws for October-December period till 31st January, 2019.

TDS provisions was brought under Goods and Service Tax (GST) operating from October 1, 2018. Now in accordance with central GST act the entities who received notification or those who applied for the returns should pay one percent on payments to goods and services on a limit that exceeds Rs 25 lakh. State governed tax body will levy one percent TDS under the inter-state laws.

The recent notification from Finance Ministry mentioned about the new deadline for filing TDS returns till January end of the next year. There were reposted issues about the GST portal in accepting the tax deduction in terms of claiming credit or benefit by the payers. Generation of TDS certificates are also crowded with bug complaints all over India. The central body announced that it is taking necessary action to rectify the GST portal issues.

Many private bodies and companies request the government to stabilize and correct the workflow of TDS return operations on the official portal.
