Annual returns of Goods and Service Tax (GST) registered under the central government by the businesses of India has to provide the details of sales, ITC- Input tax credit and purchases for the fiscal year 2017-18. The notification was sent in the month of September marking the deadline line December 31, 2018. Now the latest update has confirmed the extension of deadline until March 31, 2019.
Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) informed the press about the official decision to extend the deadline to March 31, 2019 for filing Form GSTR-9, GSTR-9A and GSTR-9C. All the requisite applications and forms will be available in the GST common portal said the tax body of Central government.
GSTR-9A is the tax return filing for composition taxpayers and GSTR-9 is the annual return form for normal taxpayers of the country. GSTR-9C is the reconciliation statement that should be filed along with other forms under GST act. Many traders and business enterprises of the nation had earlier asked for an extension of the deadline for filing annual returns.
The new extension is a big relief for many Industries and Traders of the country providing extra time for aligning themselves with the needed documents and forms concerned with the tax return filing.
