The Head of the state government department of Registrations, Commissioner Kumaragurubaran, has informed that a new facility would be introduced from 17th December when the proper property registration is processed within an hour of application.

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E. Palanisamy had earlier inaugurated the facility of the online process of registration of property and other events during February known as ‘Star 2.0’. Subsequently, additional facilities have been introduced to this system.

Facilities and procedures such as getting access to the latest status of the registration process at every stage, issuing a copy of the Encumbrance Certificate, making advance registration as per the indicated time and as per the serial order have all been introduced in the system.

Further, making the required payment for registration through net banking or debit/credit cards, marriage registration, union/association registration, etc,. have all been converted into the ‘online’ mode.

In the present situation, within a few days after the completion of the registration, the concerned documents are returned to the owners. In this scenario, the Department of Registration has taken up the challenging task of completing the registration procedures within an hour after submission of application!

The Head of the Department of Registration, Commissioner Kumaragurubaran, informed in this regard that the new efforts have been taken up with the view that the public should not be put to hardships such as making several trips. The various stages of activities include:

  • Receiving the applications in a serial order
  • Checking with the original documents
  • Checking the identity documents of the applicant
  • Taking their photographs and fingerprints
  • Scanning the document allotting the serial number and sealing the same

It will require about an hour to complete these stages of activities. Thus, it is possible to process the registration within an hour and hand over the same to the concerned owner.

834 Information Registration Staff have been deployed as per the number of the registrations carried out in the respective registration offices.

The registrar offices have been provided with a fingerprinting machine, 2 web-cameras, and an additional printer and scanner in the offices where the workload is more as requested to ELCOT. On the days when the number of registrations is very high, the registrars have been instructed to furnish 1 more scanner.

The newly appointed data compilers will have to obtain the signature on the pages and scan them as per the serial order. By having the fingerprint of the authority for returning the original documents already scanned, the documents will be returned.

The system of returning the original documents on the very same day of registration is set to commence on 17th December. Activities in this regard are progressing in full swing.
