The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that the cyclonic form to be stabilized over the Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours will cross the coast during the afternoon of 17th December between Ongole ad Kakinada.

The director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre, Balachandran, explained in this regard that the depression zone, presently prevailing over the Bay of Bengal, would transform into a very high-level depression located around 930 km southeast of Chennai and 1090 km from Masulippattinam.

This depression zone is drifting at a speed of 13 km per hour. It has been estimated that this would transform into a cyclonic format in the next 24 hours and drift towards Andhra and finally cross the coast between Ongole and Kakinada during the afternoon of 17th December.

Due to this, there are prospects of rain in a few places and heavy rains in 1 or 2 places in the Tamil Nadu coastal districts on 15th and 16th December.

The fishermen who go to the southwest and central-west parts of the Bay of Bengal are strictly advised not to venture into the sea. Further, the fishermen who are presently fishing in the deep sea are strongly advised to return to the shore.
