The Chennai Meteorological Centre has informed that there are good prospects of heavy rains caused by the recently formed cyclone.

The director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre, Balachandran, explained that the low-pressure zone which prevailed over the southeast Bay of Bengal has transformed into a high-level depression zone. This is currently located 690 km away from Chennai.

The depression zone may intensify further to form a cyclonic zone in the next 24 hours and will cross the coast during the afternoon of 17th December between Ongole and Kakinada. Due to this, there are strong prospects of medium rain in a few places in the Northern Tamil Nadu coastal areas and heavy rains in 1 or 2 places today and tomorrow (15th and 16th December)

So, the fishermen must not venture into the southwest and the central-west Bay of Bengal on 15th, 17th, and 18th December. The wind from the lands will blow at high speeds of 45 kmph to 55 kmph.
