Distribution of Pongal gift pack - CM to inaugurate today (5th Jan)

The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, E. Palanisamy, will inaugurate the function of the distribution of the special Pongal festival gift package with Rs. 1000 to the ration card holders.
The announcement regarding the Pongal gift pack for the ration card holders was announced on 22nd December. The pack will carry 1kg of raw rice, 1 kg sugar, 20 grams of cashew nut, 20 grams of raisin, 5 grams of cardamom, and a piece of 2’long sugarcane.
A Government Order was issued for distributing the above Pongal festival special gift package, allotting Rs. 258 Crores, through the ration shops for 20191054 ration card holders.
Subsequently, after the Governor’s address of the New Year inaugural session of the Legislative Assembly, another Government Order was released to distribute Rs. 1000 in cash along with the Pongal gift pack to ration card holders
The ration cardholders can receive the Pongal gift package along with Rs. 1000 in cash from the respective Fair Price Shops from Monday, 7th January.
In a special event organised today evening (Saturday, 5th January), the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister will inaugurate the Pongal Gift distribution by giving the same to 10 ration card holders. A special Government Order has been issued allotting Rs. 1980 Crores for this purpose.
