High demand for air travels leaves rate hike

With increase in demand for air travel from Chennai to a number of small towns in Tamil Nadu, and a lot of other tourist places like Goa owing to long Pongal holidays, there is substantial dip in air fares.

Here is the list of pricing

Rs 4500 to Rs 8500 – Fare range to Trichy, Tuticorin, Madurai and Goa if booked 10 days in advance for the travel dates 11th and 12th January 2019. These rates are quite the same as that of metro routes. The actual festival starts on  16th January, but people are heading for travel on 11th or 12th January in most cases.

In the following days, according to travel agents, there is a likeliness of  increase in price of up to Rs 10,000 as there will be increase in total bookings in the coming days.

Starting from Chennai up till Madurai, the price range for traveling on 12th January is Rs 4200 to Rs 7400.

From Chennai to Tuticorin, the fare on 12th January is of the rage Rs 4600 to Rs 7300.

From Chennai to Trichy, the fare on the same day is of the range Rs 4000 to Rs 6000.

There are similar range of rates for the other destinations as well. There is very high demand for seats in small towns when there are more people wishing to make use of the holiday time by spending with their family and relatives.

Of the most popular routes is Chennai to Madurai and Chennai to Goa. In the following days, there is a likely increase in bookings further. There are about 15 tickets getting booked from Chennai to Madurai every hour.

Coming on to travel between Chennai to Singapore or Malaysia, the price is high too. Travel rate between Singapore and Chennai, and Malaysia and Chennai is of the range Rs 18,000 to Rs 25,000. Generally, the rate is of the range Rs 6000 to Rs 8000 when booked off-season.

There is huge impact of this hike in rate for travelers, especially for those who make last minute bookings.
