The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, E. Palanisamy, made an important order today in the Legislative Assembly – Kallakurichi, presently as a part of Villupuram district is being separated as formed as a separate district.
Presently, there are 32 districts in Tamil Nadu. In this situation, the citizens of Kallkurichi and the neighbourhood had demanded that the Villupuram district was too large and it was rather difficult to get government-related services in their areas.
In this scenario, today (Tuesday, 8th January) being the last session of the current Legislative Assembly Session, the Chief Minister addressed a thanks-giving note o the Governor’s address. During this address, he announced that Kallkurichi is separated from Villupuram to form a new district.
Villupuram district had 11 Legislative Assembly Constituencies and 2 Parliamentary constituencies. Now, Kallkurichi is formed as the 33rd district of TamilNadu state. It is expected that a district collector will soon be appointed for Kallakurichi.
