India International Leather Fair, IILF, to start from today in Chennai

At the Chennai Trade Centre, the 34th edition of India International Trade fair would be inaugurated by the deputy chief minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. O. Paneerselvam on 31st January 2019. The event would be presided over by Mr. M.C. Sampath who is the minister of industries and Mr. K.C. Karuppanan who is the minister for environment.

According to a statement it is revealed that this three day event of India Trade Promotion Organisation and Indian Leather industry is being conducted with the support of Council for Leather Exports, Central Leather Research institute or CLRI, Indian Shoe Federation, Indian Finished Leather Manufacturers and Exporters Association and Indian Footwear Component Manufacturers Association.

The sensational piece of information is this fair would feature a wide range of products, machinery equipments from over 450 countries belonging to India and abroad. This fair would also see the presence of more than 150 exhibitors from several countries. It was pointed out by Mr. Aqeel Ahmed, chairman, Council for Leather Exports that the leather industry could grow at the rate of 8 to 10 % in exports as India could get benefit from the imposition of USA tariffs on China. The objective behind this fair was to highlight the export skills of Indian leather and to feature their achievements and technologies. The need to be eco-friendly is very important and this would be given huge importance in this upcoming fair.

According to Mr. Israr Ahmed, regional chairman-south, Council for Leather Exports, there are plans to construct an exclusive MSME leather park in Vellore spread around 100 acres. It is important to note that as a part of IILF the Leather Fashion Show 2019 would take place to showcase the latest trends, colours and designs. There would also be ramp walk done by 36 female and 12 male supermodels.
