Thursday Mathematics State Board examination for Std. 12 students saw 49 candidates being caught for malpractices. They were caught copying or in possession of material related to the exam. The highest number of those caught were 22 from Thiruvannamalai. They were all private candidates.

Says Arun Prasad, District Chief Educational Officer, ‘They were caught with bits of paper to be used for copying. We have sent the evidence to the directorate of government examinations. They will decide on the punishment. Private candidates come just in time for the exam after teachers give the instructions about the consequences of indulging in malpractices. There is little time to check them.’
