As the elections are scheduled to be conducted on 18th April, 5 successive holidays are occurring. The government has declared a holiday on 17th April on account of Mahavir Jayanthi. As elections are scheduled to be conducted on 17th April, this date will also be a holiday. April 19th, being the occasion of Good Friday, is a holiday too!
20th and 21st April are Saturday and Sunday. Thus, there are 5 successive holidays.
Quite naturally, this has especially delighted the government servants who are not deployed in the election activities.
As the Election Commission announced the date of the election on a holiday yesterday (Sunday), there was some excitement among the public though it was a non-working day!
