On 2 April at the Nehru Centre, Mumbai, the India2022 coalition will be joined by 300 leaders from business, the start-up community, academia, the arts and government at the Xynteo Exchange/India2022 to accelerate solutions that tackle the biggest issues facing India today. Launched in 2017 and powered by Xynteo, the India2022 coalition is a purpose-driven global business coalition committed to creating a new model of growth in India by 2022, the 75th year of India’s independence.

Accelerating and scaling sustainable solutions

Following the success of last year’s inaugural event, where 16 projects including Plastic Safari and MedtechConnect were seeded, this year’s Exchange will focus on how to scale collaborative, commercial and sustainable solutions covering four macro scale challenges: Accelerate penetration of clean energy solutions; establish working models of circularity, in particular plastic waste; deliver high quality and accessible diagnostic healthcare; adopt best-in-class sustainable mining practices.

Osvald Bjelland, Chairman and CEO, Xynteo said: "India as a nation has vast potential to accelerate a new type of growth - inclusive, sustainable and for the long-term. To achieve this we need stronger collaboration between private and public, and Indian and international organisations. The India2022 coalition and the hundreds of leaders joining us at this year`s Xynteo Exchange/India2022 illustrate a collective will to take action. Together, we`re accelerating our efforts to deliver real progress in India - when we win in India, we will win in the world”.

An action-focussed immersive event for Indian and global leaders

Unlike many conferences and forums, the Exchange is a full-day immersive experience that challenges attendees not only to think and talk, but also to create e and do.

There are three distinct parts to the event: the Square, Studios and Marketplace.

In the ‘Square’, a range of world-class leaders including both established and challenger voices will share ideas, insights and debate some of the key questions facing India. This year boasts a number of renowned experts and leaders including the India2022 Executive committee featuring global leaders from Hindustan Unilever, Baker Hughes – a GE company, Royal Dutch Shell, TechnipFMC, Hindalco – an Aditya Birla Group company and Cyient.

Topics and themes that will be explored during the day include: An evolving model of corporate leadership; the relationship and evolving role of government and business; India’s next innovation driven transformation; and using technology to democratise opportunities.

Small working groups will collaborate in ‘Studios’ to accelerate commercial solutions to some of the largest human problems facing India. Each group will work on a project from the India2022 coalition’s four impact tracks – Waste to Value, Energise, Healthcare and Sustainable Mining. Some of the themes are:

Sustainable Mining: How might we better mitigate key safety risks faced by mining communities?

Energise: How might we improve access and adoption of green energy solutions in commercial buildings?

Waste to Value: How might we encourage the creation of flexible financing mechanisms for waste management solutions?

Healthcare: How might Ayushman Bharat enable disruptive delivery models and technologies to reach the last mile?

30 shortlisted Indian start-ups will be showcased in an interactive space called the ‘Marketplace’. Having successfully applied and been selected, the most promising and innovative impact driven projects, and their representatives, will be seeking to make new connections, attract investment and new talent. They will also compete for the Impact Maker Award, which recognises the project with most potential to reinvent the growth model in India. The winner will be invited to showcase their venture to over 300 global leaders at the Marketplace at the Xynteo Exchange/Norway, in Oslo in October 2019.
