The Congress party has announced that it will not hold early elections in the wake of the DMK’s pulling out of the UPA. The party took the opportunity of passing a no confidence motion in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. They have also asked all their allies to be present in Parliament on Wednesday and Thursday to ensure that they have enough support.

Meanwhile, the five DMK ministers who are currently in the Cabinet will meet the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on Wednesday morning to hand in their resignations. The DMK pulled out of the ruling UPA coalition due to ‘differences’ in the Sri Lankan issue.
